![]() > Should add ability for companions to use passive items such as lock picks or the toolbox to increase their skill as well or use tools like the scanner or the Geiger counter. > Should add utility slot(s) for passive items/tools (toolboxes / scanner / keys / lock picks / Geiger counters / etc.). > Should have 3 weapons slots or at least an ability to increase the number of active slots to allow knives in addition to pistol / rifles combos. Implementation of the Geiger counter felt quite useless – you are already contaminated by the second you are made aware by the counter that there are radiations – plus it takes your active item slot. Some elements of the UI are copycats of its predecessors on purpose but there should have been a modern way of handling some of the action from the option menu so people would chose the classic way or a “more modern way” to perform some of the in the game actions. Generally speaking other than a few obvious recipes most of them are not intuitive at all and the quantity of combinations of interest end up being quite underwhelming. It felt like a lot of recipes were obtainable way too late in game versus when you would need them / what you find on enemies (with even 2-4 Luck only). The value of some of the items when compared to other items don’t always make sense - in particular items which can be crafted end up costing 2x3 times more than buying them pre-made (preserved meat and fish and custom weapons ammo anyone?). With high Luck I have seen wonderful weapons in the FIRST HOUR than I had not seen at all after over 60 (now 120 as of updating the info of my review) hours with a low Luck build – as a side note enemies wearing them were then too powerful but that’s another topic - so do play around builds a bit but don’t overdo it as most of the different builds flaws are partially addressable via items and will make your experience pleasant and different anyway! ![]() Luck 9-10) but it seemed you end up seeing more merchants (positive if you want to sell loot / not so positive if you want to hunt for more loot). = Lots of emphasis in the Personally Characteristic to get access to a lot of quests / additional dialogs (regardless of Speech Skill level) but playing around more than once with different builds let you understand that there are a lot of possibilities – In relation to this, Luck brings more variety of encounters (tested Luck 2-4 vs. The game's price is more than fair and the level of originality and value surpasses any negative aspect for me - be sure to get the supporter pack which also adds a few early items to support the developers – they deserve it for their continuous support! - 4.5/5! Just make sure to read a bit about the game as some Skills are underutilized (as original Fallout) and some player Characteristic are over emphasized and not all of them can be increased after player creation. The game is immensely stable game as of 1.112 (2020) – not a SINGLE crash as of writing at 140 hours of gameplay - I would certainly love to get to play older games of that genre in a rebuilt version using their UI ! > Make sure to check the options of the game as the zoom level, view angle and battle speed (good to accelerate after playing for a while) contain relevant game changing options. The companions control system (dialog based) is quite complete - when you find how to use the right click on the companions in particular (took me 60 hours to figure out) so make sure to check the right click button on your companions for additional control options. It took me a good few hours of gameplay before getting the interface and some behaviors of the game (some took many hours to figure out). Some locations of the map might seem empty at first but most locations end up being used in later quests so speaking to notable NPCs multiple times is recommended! 120 hours in and I am ready to move to the 2nd (out of three smaller) map having already completed dozens over dozens of quests in details on the first one! While not perfect, ATROM RPG does justice (and more) to the genre.Īll the conversations are unique overall (no generic phrases that repeat for dozens of NPCs here) and the way they are written every interaction is interesting and none feel like a repetition of existing games at all!įor a completionists it will be a quite long game filled with detailed environments, quests and conversations. Here is my feedback / appreciation / impressions on the ATOM RPG game in no particular order (suggestions and bugs listed lower below) - any feedback / tips are welcome!
